Rain Showers Clear In San Juan Capistrano, Rainwater Advisory In Effect Through Friday
Though forecasts predict sunnier days to come, a rain advisory remains in place, the Orange County Health Care Agency says.
SAN JUAN CAPISTRANO, CA — The cold storm across southern California has subsided in Orange County for now, the National Weather Service reported Friday. Despite clearer skies forecasted for this weekend, a weekend rain advisory remains in place for all Orange County beaches, harbors and bay waters, the OC Health Care Agency reported Thursday.

The rain advisory was issued due to the higher levels of bacteria present in ocean and bay waters near storm drains, creeks and rivers during rainstorms. According to the OC Health Care Agency, the rising levels of bacteria can continue for a period of at least three days, depending on the intensity of the rain.

"Swimmers should avoid coastal waters impacted by discharging storm drains, creeks and rivers, and beach users should avoid contact with any runoff on the beach during dry or wet weather conditions," The agency wrote on its website.
Wind, rain and cold were the order of the day Thursday across Orange County. The National Weather Service reported the system moved into the Southland late Wednesday night, bringing rain to much of the Los Angeles and Orange County area and snow in the mountains, continuing in some locations into the afternoon and evening hours.

The rain played a factor in hampering drivers in their Thursday commutes and has been a factor in at least one rollover collision and one car fire fatality in Orange County.
