Sheriff: UCLA's Nick Pasquale Intoxicated When Killed
The Orange County Sheriff's Department said Nick Pasquale's blood-alcohol level was .26, compared to the legal limit of .08, but he had no drugs in his system when he died.
UCLA receiver Nick Pasquale was intoxicated when he was struck by a car and killed in San Clemente in September, a sheriff's lieutenant said today.
Pasquale's blood-alcohol level was .26, but he had no drugs in his system, Orange County sheriff's Lt. Jeff Hallock said.
Pasquale was a pedestrian when he was struck, but by way of comparison, the legal limit for driving under the influence is .08.
Pasquale, a football standout at San Clemente High School, was hit by the car Sept. 8 on Camino de Dos Mares, west of Calle Nuevo in San Clemente, Hallock said.
The motorist, who had been driving a Mercedes-Benz sedan, stayed at the scene and was not charged with any crime or infraction, Hallock said, adding that there were no signs on the part of the driver that drugs or alcohol played a part in the collision.
Investigators have concluded it was an accident, Hallock said.
