Southland Heatwave Hits 100 Degrees: Heat Records Could Shatter
Orange County residents should brace themselves for hot temperatures and dry winds as the midweek heatwave hits the triple digits Thursday.
SAN JUAN CAPISTRANO, CA — A heat wave blanketing Southern California continues through Friday, with temperatures peaking Thursday and advisories remaining in place as temperatures soar.
Heat advisories are scheduled through Friday for most of the Southland, including Orange County. Orange County residents will experience 100 degree weather in parts of inland Orange County. In beach cities, temperatures are expected to reach a high of 96 degrees.

The hot temperatures and gusty winds squeezing through passes and canyons bring elevated fire danger to Orange County canyon residents. Officials asked canyon residents to remain vigilant of fire threats.
"It's a pretty significant heat wave," David Sweet, a meteorologist with the National Weather Service told the Los Angeles Times. "It's not very typical for the first week of April."
