Temperatures Plummet Nearly 30 Degrees In San Juan Capistrano

From record-breaking heat to rain and winds, Southern California is experiencing a dramatic shift in weather.

SAN JUAN CAPISTRANO, CA — It's time to bundle up by the heater, San Juan Capistrano. Tuesday's forecast is bringing a brief cold spell to San Juan Capistrano, with its chilliest projected night being Tuesday, the National Weather Service reported.

Tuesday temperatures in San Juan Capistrano dropped nearly 30 degrees from Thursday, when high temperatures sparked a number of wind-driven brush fires across Southern California, including the Emerald Fire in Laguna Beach.

According to the National Weather Service, Tuesday's high for Orange County is 61 degrees with a 30 percent chance of rain. That's down 29 degrees from Saturday's record high of 89 degrees.

San Juan Capistrano residents can expect cold gusts as high as 30 miles per hour through Tuesday, with a 50 percent chance of light rain and possible thunderstorms after 4 p.m. Tuesday evening.

The rain should dispel by Tuesday night, though the winds could gust as high as 25 miles per hour.

"Buckle up your seat belts. This will be one heck of a ride! Temps will drop some 15-25 degrees tomorrow from what we felt today on strengthening west winds," the National Weather Service Orange County area tweeted. "Scattered showers will also occur and snow will fly in the higher mountains too!"
