4 Teens Arrested In Connection With Hillsdale Mall Shooting

The 16-year-old boys were each charged with assault with a firearm, attempted robbery and conspiracy to commit a crime.

SAN MATEO, CA — Four 16-year-old boys were arrested Thursday in connection with a shooting at a Hillsdale Shopping Center parking lot, according to the San Mateo Police Department.

A 20-year-old San Mateo resident was found shot on Wednesday around 5:30 p.m. at a parking lot adjacent to Macy’s. He is in critical but stable condition and expected to survive.

The boys were each charged with assault with a firearm, attempted robbery and conspiracy to commit a crime. The victim was shot in the parking lot and the suspects fled before police arrived, according to a news release.

Police used information from witnesses and security footage from the mall to identify the suspects.

The boys were booked into Hillcrest Juvenile Hall. Police said they are looking for additional suspects and attempting to determine the motive.
