71-Year-Old Pedestrian Seriously Injured In South City Hit-And-Run

SOUTH SAN FRANCISCO, CA — An elderly pedestrian was seriously injured in a hit-and-run crash Thursday night, South San Francisco police said.

The 71-year-old male victim was taken to a local hospital with major injuries, police said. He was in critical but stable condition as of Monday.

Officers at around 9:44 p.m. Thursday responded to the 1200 block of El Camino Real on the report of the victim laying in the roadway, police said.

Investigators determined the victim was standing in the bicycle lane with his bicycle when he was struck from behind by a vehicle traveling southbound, police said.

The suspect vehicle fled the scene and was last seen traveling southbound on El Camino Real, police said. The vehicle is described as a dark-colored sedan (possibly green) with a light-colored roof.
