75-Year-Old Cyclist Killed In Coastal Peninsula Crash

Deputies at around 3 p.m. Thursday responded to 500 block of Kelly Avenue on the report of the report of the collision, authorities said.

HALF MOON BAY, CA — A 75-year-old bicyclist was killed in a traffic collision Thursday afternoon, the San Mateo County Sheriff’s Office said.

Miguel Jose JuarezPerez, 18 of Half Moon Bay, was arrested on suspicion of vehicular manslaughter in connection with the crash, the Sheriff’s Office said. JaurezPerez was also arrested on suspicion of driving without a license, the Sheriff’s Office said.

The victim, a Half Moon Bay man, has not yet been identified.

Deputies at around 3 p.m. Thursday responded to 500 block of Kelly Avenue on the report of a collision involving a bicycle and a motor vehicle, the Sheriff’s Office said.

Deputies upon arrival found the victim unconscious with life-threatening injuries.

The victim was taken to a local hospital, where he died from his injuries, the Sheriff’s Office said.

The Major Accident Investigation Team was summoned to assist with the investigation and accident reconstruction.

JuarezPerez was driving a 2001 gold colored GMC Yukon at the time of this collision. He remained on scene and cooperated with investigators, the Sheriff’s Office said.

The crash remains under investigation.
