Accused Bank Robber Arrested In San Mateo
Police allege the man tried to rob a bank Tuesday, then returned to rob a neighboring bank on Wednesday.
SAN MATEO, CA — A man accused of attempting to rob a bank Tuesday and robbing a second Wednesday was arrested Thursday in San Mateo, according to police.
Investigators have identified the suspect as Stephan Kevorkian, 55, of San Mateo. According to police, Kevorkian visited a bank early Tuesday afternoon on the 300 block of South El Camino Real. Investigators allege he gave a note demanding money to the bank teller, but soon left the bank without cash.
Detectives at the scene identified a potential suspect and were continuing their investigation the next day when a second robbery was reported at a bank just one block away. Police said the description matched the suspect from the earlier robbery attempt, and officers moved in to arrest Kevorkian on suspicion of both crimes Thursday.
