Around 10K Peninsula Residents Without Power As Wildfire Spreads

According to the PG&E outage map, the estimated time of restoration for most areas was around 7:15 p.m.

SAN MATEO COUNTY, CA — Around 10,000 residents in San Mateo County were without power Tuesday afternoon as a 25-acre wildfire spread through the Emerald Hills area, prompting evacuations in some parts of Redwood City.

Stanford University and the College of San Mateo also reported power outages.

"One of the main PG&E transmission lines feeding the campus is reportedly down," Stanford officials said on social media. "Efforts are under way to transfer power to an alternate line. No ETA at this time."

The fire broke out after 2 p.m. at Edgewood Road and Crestview Drive in the Emerald Hills area. An evacuation/reunification location was set up Veterans Memorial Senior Center at 1455 Madison Ave. in Redwood City.

Several structures were threatened early Tuesday evening, according Cal Fire CZU Battalion Chief Ethan Petersen.
