Body of Missing Burlingame Man Found in Hillsborough

Ivor Morris, 79, was last seen Monday.

An elderly Burlingame man who went missing on Monday was found dead Tuesday afternoon in Hillsborough, police said.

Ivor Morris, 79, who lived in the 1600 block of Ralston Avenue and also went by the name "Scotty," went for a walk at about 9 a.m. Monday but never returned home, police said.

His wife reported him missing later that day, and told police he was likely on foot because he had left his car behind.

Tuesday afternoon, at about 1:10 p.m., a resident of Rowan Tree Lane in Hillsborough called police to report seeing a man down off of the roadway, Hillsborough police said.

Officers responded and found a man's body in thick vegetation, police said. He was pronounced dead at the scene, and was later identified as Morris.

The San Mateo County coroner's office is investigating the death, but police said there were no signs of foul play.

The spot where Morris was found is in a hilly area adjacent to Interstate Highway 280, nearly 8 miles from his home.

Hillsborough police Capt. Doug Davis said it is not clear how he got there, but that it appears he traveled on foot. He said police have been told Morris was an avid walker.
