Crews Clear 'Rebellious' Tree Blocking San Mateo Intersection

SAN MATEO, CA — Crews in San Mateo cleaned up a large tree that was blocking the road at 36th Avenue and Edison Street on Monday.
The tree was removed from the roadway and coned off, taking up a portion of the eastbound lane, according to the city. The lane size was reduced.
City officials said jokingly that the large tree “wanted its independence and decided to break free,” and that “no squirrels or birds were hurt during this act of rebellion.”
