San Mateo Deputy Mayor Diane Papan Announces Endorsement From the California Professional Firefighters
SAN MATEO, CA – Today, San Mateo Deputy Mayor Diane Papan announced her campaign for Assembly received the endorsement from the California Professional Firefighters (CPF.) With a membership of more than 30,000, CPF is the largest statewide organization dedicated exclusively to serving the needs of career firefighters. It is one of the nation’s strongest and most influential public employee organizations.
"Because of climate change, the work of California’s firefighters is more critical than ever” said Papan. “The time is now to make sure we are adequately protected from the imminent threat posed by our climate crisis. As a Member of the Assembly, I’ll fight for year-round investment in wildfire
prevention. Locally and statewide, this means recruiting, retaining, and training an adequate workforce of firefighters and first responders; equipping them with the life-saving tools they need to contain fires and save lives; and investing in effective vegetation management and fire break techniques.”

California Professional Firefighters is the officially chartered state council for the International Association of Fire Fighters (IAFF), which represents more than 298,000 frontline firefighters throughout the nation. CPF derives its strength from more than 175 local affiliates, representing some 30,000 firefighters and paramedics in the state of California.
San Mateo Deputy Mayor Diane Papan is running for the State Assembly to ensure every Californian has access to quality healthcare and mental health services, a path to home ownership, good-paying jobs, and the best schools for their children. Deputy Mayor Papan was first elected to the San Mateo City Council in 2015 and subsequently re-elected in 2020, when she was the top vote-getter in the county.

The newly redrawn 21st Assembly District is replacing the 22nd Assembly District, an open seat being vacated by Assemblymember Kevin Mullin. The new District includes the communities of Burlingame, East Palo Alto, Foster City, Millbrae, Redwood City, San Bruno, San Carlos, San Mateo, and South San Francisco.
