Guns, Drugs Found On Man Accused Of Dealing Drugs In San Mateo County : Police

SAN MATEO — San Mateo police officers said they arrested a man carrying guns and drugs after a report was made that he was in the middle of a drug deal Tuesday on S. El Camino Real.

San Mateo police said they arrested Armando Menendez, 44, of Modesto, after receiving a call that a man was reportedly dealing drugs.

At 2:41 p.m. Tuesday, police said they received a call that a suspect with drugs and a black, Glock-style pistol in a fanny pack was in the middle of a drug deal on 37th Avenue and S. El Camino Real.

Police checked the area and located a suspect matching that description on the 4000 block of S. El Camino Real.

Officers said they searched Menendez and found a gun and drugs on him. Police said they learned that Menendez had been convicted of a felony and was currently on parole.

Police said they transported him to the San Mateo County Jail and he was charged with carrying a loaded firearm in public, being a convicted felon in possession of a firearm, being a prohibited person in possession of ammunition, carrying an unserialized firearm, being in possession of a controlled substance while armed and being in possession of a controlled substance for sale.

Police did not confirm whether or not he had been dealing drugs when the report was made.
