Huge Tree Falls, Crushes Cars, 1 Person Injured In Bay Area: Police
A massive tree fell Wednesday afternoon and blocked the roadway.

SAN MATEO, CA — A massive tree fell Wednesday afternoon, crushed several cars and injured at least one person, a San Mateo Police spokesperson told Patch.
At around 2:55 p.m, the SMPD tree fell in the area of S. Railroad Avenue between 9th Avenue and 10th Avenue.
Police closed the road while emergency personnel cleared the area, police said.

Several parked cars were damaged by the tree and one person was treated with nonlife-threatening injuries, police said.
The San Mateo Fire Department reported two people were affected by the downed tree and that one person was evaluated at the scene but another was transported to the hospital.

What caused the tree to fall is unclear at this time.
"They were saying it was windy out there, but if you look at the size of that tree, yeah, no idea what brought something like that down," SMPD Officer Andrew Peek told Patch.
