Lockdown Lifted At San Mateo School After Possible Armed Suspects Reported: Police

The police department received a report of people acting suspiciously near the school.

SAN MATEO, CA — Officers locked down a school Friday in San Mateo after receiving a report "of possible armed subjects acting suspiciously in the area," police said.

At 1:58 p.m. on Friday, the San Mateo Police Department sent out an alert stating the secure campus status was lifted at St. Gregory’s Catholic School.

At around 8:11 a.m., SMPD officers said they received a report of possible armed subjects acting suspiciously in the area of El Camino Real and 26th Avenue.

Police said they investigated the report and based on the proximity to the school, it was moved to a secure campus status.
