Modified Machine Gun Found In Man's Car During Traffic Stop
A police firearms expert later test-fired the weapon, which discharged 10 rounds in under one second.
SAN MATEO, CA — A 20-year-old Antioch man was arrested Thursday after San Mateo police discovered a modified, fully automatic handgun during a routine traffic stop on southbound Highway 101, police said.
At approximately 3:02 p.m., an officer stopped a vehicle near Holly Street for multiple vehicle code violations, according to the police.
Josiah Garcia, the front passenger, was detained along with the driver.

Officers located a loaded Glock 22 pistol with a round in the chamber under the front passenger seat. The firearm had been modified with a "switch" device, converting it into a fully automatic weapon, police said.

Garcia was arrested without incident and booked into the San Mateo County Jail on multiple felony firearm offenses, San Mateo police noted.
