Peninsula Woman, 77, Accused Of Pulling Out Gun In Family Dispute

Crisis negotiators were called to the woman's house Tuesday afternoon.

SAN MATEO, CA -- A 77-year-old woman in the Peninsula area was taken into custody Tuesday afternoon for allegedly pulling out a gun during a family dispute. Police said the incident happened around 4:53 p.m. in the 1600 block of Maxine Avenue in San Mateo.

Police said crisis officers and negotiators arrived at the house immediately after receiving the phone call about the incident. They successfully negotiated for the woman to exit the house unarmed, police said.

A preliminary investigation revealed that this dispute started earlier in the day with a verbal argument between family members that escalated to unsafe conditions for everyone involved, police said.
