Singer Sentenced For Meth Possession In San Mateo County: Prosecutors

The man said he was a singer and he was flying to Australia to shoot a music video, prosecutors said.

SAN MATEO COUNTY, CA — A Los Angeles singer arrested at SFO in June 2024 with over 14 pounds of methamphetamine was sentenced Monday to two years in county jail, the San Mateo County District Attorney’s Office reported.

Juan Paz-Guzman, 24, pleaded no contest to felony meth possession for sale on Sept. 8, 2025. He admitted to carrying over 4 kilograms of meth. Though the deal entailed a six-plus year sentence, on Monday, Judge Kevin Dunleavy struck the weight enhancement, sentencing him to two years, prosecutors said.

On June 26, 2024, a TSA agent at SFO found five heat-sealed packages of methamphetamine hidden under false bottoms in Paz-Guzman’s two suitcases during a random bag search, prosecutors reported.
