SMC Police Use GPS Tracking To Find Teen Suspect Who Fled: Police

A teen driver fled from officers at a high rate of speed and rather than chase them, police used a tracking device.

SAN BRUNO, CA — Officers in San Bruno used a GPS tracking device to find a teen who sped away from police Thursday, police said.

On Thursday morning, San Bruno Police Department officers said they attempted to pull over a car near El Camino Real and Euclid Avenue. The teen driver fled at a high speed away from officers, police said.

SBPD deployed a StarChase GPS tracking device, which uses a launcher equipped with two GPS tags per vehicle. The tracking device allowed officers to back off the pursuit while still monitoring the suspect's every move, police said.
