Spilled Avocados Snarl Traffic On Highway 101
A truck carrying a large shipment of avocados overturned Monday morning on Highway 101 in San Mateo.

SAN MATEO, CA — An overturned semi-truck spilled avocados in the northbound lanes of Highway 101 early Monday, slowing traffic in the area for several hours, according to the California Highway Patrol.
The CHP said the truck was transporting 8 tons of avocados when it overturned in San Mateo following a crash with two other vehicles shortly before 4 a.m. The cause of the crash remains under investigation, and no serious injuries were reported.
Officials shared photos from the crash scene later in the morning as crews worked to upright the truck and clear the road, while three northbound lanes remained blocked. According to the CHP, most of the avocados survived the collision.
