Thieves Strike San Mateo Cancer Nonprofit: Report
The San Mateo-based Bay Area Cancer Connections' stolen van was recovered after the thieves vandalized it.
SAN MATEO, CA — Thieves earlier this week hit a Peninsula-based nonprofit that provides mobile services to cancer patients, The San Francisco Chronicle reports.
Bay Area Cancer Connections on Tuesday morning reported the group’s van had been stolen from a nearby alley, the report said.
The van, affectionately nicknamed by the nonprofit “Tiffany Blue,” was found ransacked about a half hour after it was reported stolen in the 200 block of Stratford Way (near Serra High School), approximately 1 1/2 miles from BACC's offices at 1511 S. Claremont Street, the report said.

The nonprofit supports ovarian and breast cancer patients with personalized services, according to the group’s website.
“They took all the bras, you know all the prosthetics, all the wigs, all these things that were intended for people who are going through treatment and who are also people who don't have themeans to buy these things,” BACC Executive Director Rina Bello told The Chronicle.

“Everything was taken, and then they trashed it. They busted the ignition, busted the door and broke the doors to get onto the bus.”
