Traffic Delays Caused By Malfunctioning Railroad Crossing Arms In San Mateo: Police

All of the railroad crossings were closed as repairs were made across the city.

SAN MATEO, CA — There were traffic delays for several hours in San Mateo to repair crossing arms, police said.

The Burlingame Police Department first reported around 4 p.m that the railroad tracked in Burlingame were closed for 10 hours due emergency repairs to the crossing arms.

The San Mateo Police Department reported at 6:42 p.m. on Saturday that the issue in Burlingame had now affected all San Mateo railroad crossings and that the arms were stuck in the down position, preventing east and west travel.

Drivers were advised to use state Highway 92, 25th Avenue, 28th Avene, 31st Avenue or Hillsdale Boulevard in the meantime.

At around 10 p.m., the SMPD stated the issue had been fixed and that all crossings had reopened.
