4 Arrested In Connection With Marin Catalytic Converter Thefts
Police in San Rafael on Thursday arrested four suspects in connection with catalytic converter thefts and other crimes.

SAN RAFAEL, CA — Police in San Rafael on Thursday arrested four suspects in connection with catalytic converter thefts and other crimes.
Jose Miguel Lopez Munoz, 33, Nicolas Antonio Murillo, 44, Oscar Humberto Zavala, 29, and Anayeli Vega Gonzalez, 18, all from Oakland, were arrested on suspicion of felony theft, possession of stolen property and conspiracy, according to the San Rafael Police Department.
Gonzalez was also arrested on suspicion of assault on an officer with a deadly weapon and evading an officer, police said.

On Thursday at 1:14 a.m., officers responded to Elizabeth Way on a report a suspicious vehicle had been driving up and down the street, and the occupants were breaking into various vehicles by smashing the windows.
An officer located the suspect vehicle and followed it as it sped up to get away, police said.
When the vehicle came to a dead end, the officer got out of his vehicle to contact the suspects, and the driver of the suspect vehicle made a U-turn and drove at the officer.

The officer was able to get out of the way of the vehicle and was not injured.
The suspect vehicle swerved to avoid another responding vehicle and crashed into a parked vehicle.
The suspects were then taken into custody.
Police found several catalytic converters inside the suspect vehicle and the tools needed to remove the catalytic converters from vehicles.
