$784M Budget Approved By Marin Supervisors

The Board of Supervisors unanimously approved the balanced budget plan after three days of public hearings.

SAN RAFAEL, CA — Marin County's budget for the upcoming fiscal year was approved Thursday by the county's Board of Supervisors.

The board approved their 2023-2024 fiscal year budget of $784 million.

After three days of presentations, hearings and public feedback, the board unanimously accepted the balanced budget.

"Given the economic uncertainty we are seeing at the state and local level, we are glad to adopt a budget that maintains critical services and makes significant investments in our top community priorities," said Board President Stephanie Moulton-Peters in a press release.

This year's budget represents a 9 percent increase in spending across all funds from last year's $716.6 million budget.

Priorities include $30 million towards improvements and maintenance at the Marin Civic Center, a wage increase to $18 an hour for eligible county workers, $2 million for road improvements and the creation of a sheriff's office oversight board.
