Advisory: Road Closures Upcoming On 2nd Street In San Rafael

SAN RAFAEL, CA -- Beginning on Friday, May 31 at 8 p.m. and ending on Monday, June 3 at 4 a.m., Second Street in San Rafael will be closed from Tamalpais Avenue to Hetherton Street.

The reason is construction on the SMART Larkspur rail extension.

To travel eastbound, access A Street from Second Street as follows:

• To access the U.S. 101 South or I-580 East, turn right on A Street. Continue east on Anderson Drive. Follow road signs to access freeway on-ramps.
• U.S. 101 South is also accessible via Francisco Blvd West.
• To continue east or to access U.S. 101 North, turn left on A Street. Turn right on Fourth Street. Continue eastbound.

Also, beginning on Friday, June 7 at 8 p.m. and ending on Monday, June 10 at 4 a.m., Third Street will be closed between Tamalpais Avenue to Hetherton Street for the same reason.

To travel westbound, use the following alternate routes:

• To travel westbound from U.S. 101 North, continue north on Irwin Street. Turn left on Fourth Street. Turn left on Lincoln Avenue. Turn right to continue on Third Street.
• To travel westbound from U.S. 101 South, continue south on Hetherton Street. Turn right on Fourth Street. Turn left on Lincoln Avenue. Turn right to continue on Third Street.
