All Consumer Fireworks Illegal In Marin County
With July 4 celebrations on deck, Marin fire officials are reminding residents and visitors to avoid illegal fireworks or face penalties.

SAN RAFAEL, CA — A warm, dry weekend is ahead and Marin County leaders are reminding neighbors and visitors celebrating Independence Day that all fireworks — including those labeled "safe and sane" — remain illegal to possess or use, and the county has a zero-tolerance policy.
Teams from the Marin County Fire Department, Sheriff's Office and Parks will be actively monitoring for illegal fireworks and can take enforcement action on incidents whether they occur on private or public property.
A misdemeanor offense against the county's fireworks prohibition can lead to financial penalties up to $500, or even a few days in jail. Officials urge everyone to follow the rules to keep everyone safe and for locals to help spread the word to holiday visitors who may not know the law.

"While we received a lot of rain earlier in the year, conditions are now dry and highly dangerous, especially when it's windy," said Jason Weber, the Marin County Fire Chief. "You can still have a good time without letting your guard down. Public safety and protecting property have to be high on everyone's priority list."
Residents can report illegal fireworks to the sheriff's non-emergency line at 415-473-2311.
