Armed Man​ At Breonna Taylor Mural In Marin Won't Be Charged: DA

San Rafael police said the Marin County District Attorney's Office declined to press charges in the case.

SAN RAFAEL, CA — Police in San Rafael on Thursday said they have identified the man involved in an incident in September in which a weapon was brandished at a crowd of people at a mural for Breonna Taylor.

On Sept. 24 at 6:23 p.m., officers with the San Rafael Police Department responded to the area of Las Gallinas Avenue and Manuel T Freitas Parkway on a report of a man who had brandished a weapon at a crowd.

Police said the man had a bucket of water and a broom and was washing away a mural of Breonna Taylor when several people in support of the mural confronted him.

An argument ensued, and the man brandished what is believed to have been a Taser, according to police.

The man then fled the area prior to police arriving at the scene.

Police said the man, a resident of Marin County went to the mural to remove it and was confronted by three people.

One of the three people took the bucket of water and tossed it at the man as he was scrubbing the mural, and the man pointed a Taser at the person who threw the bucket of water, police said.

The case was sent to the Marin County District Attorney's Office for review.

Police said the Marin County District Attorney's Office declined to press charges in the case.

The San Rafael Police Department is not releasing the identity of the man since charges were not brought in the case.
