MARIN COUNTY, CA — The trial of former Marin police officer arrested earlier this year in connection with a domestic incident at his Novato home has ended in a mistrial, The Marin Independent Journal reports.

A Marin jury deadlocked on charges that Shane Ford, 50, inflicted “unjustifiable physical pain or mental suffering on a child,” with 11 of the 12 jurors voting in favor of acquittal, according to the report, which cited Ford’s attorney.

The former Tiburon police sergeant initially was also charged with spousal battery, but that charge was dismissed before the case went before the jury, according to the report.
