Fatal Marin Shooting Victim ID’d

A person of interest has been identified in connection with the shooting that killed one and injured two, authorities said.

MARIN COUNTY, CA — The victim of a fatal Marin City shooting over the weekend has been identified as Michael Arthur Rogers II, 42 of Oakland, authorities said.

A person of interest has been identified by the Marin County Sheriff’s Office but the agency hasn’t publicly named the person.

Deputies at around 10:05 a.m. Sunday responded to multiple reports of rapid gunfire in the area of Cole Drive and Drake Avenue in Marin City, the Sheriff’s Office said.

Responding deputies found a male and female, both injured, near a silver sedan, the Sheriff’s Office said.

The male victim, later identified as Rogers, died from his injuries after he was taken to a local hospital after life-saving measures were performed on the scene, the Sheriff’s Office said.

The female victim was treated and released from a local hospital, the Sheriff’s Office said.

A third person injured in the shooting showed up at an area hospital suffering from apparent gunshot wounds, the Sheriff’s Office said.

A firearm was recovered from the scene.
