“The vehicle was discovered by other motorists with damage consistent with having been involved in collision with a fixed object and was unoccupied,” the Sheriff’s Office said.

“At the time of this writing and which remains under investigation, it is not known if the vehicle was occupied by one or more persons and who was the operator of the vehicle.”

A driver stopped in the lane and put their vehicle hazard lights on to prevent other cars from striking the body.

All bridge traffic in both directions was shut down for about an hour while the CHP investigated.

Gonzalez Vasquez was pronounced dead at the scene.

Gonzalez Vasquez had no identification on him, delaying efforts to identify him, authorities said.

“The Marin County Sheriff’s Office and personnel of the Coroner Division offers our sincerest condolences to the family and friends of Mr. Gonzalez Vasquez,” the agency said.
