MARIN COUNTY, CA — A fight between a teacher and a student at a Marin school on Thursday is under investigation, KRON reports.

The television station obtained video of the 11:30 a.m. fight at Redwood High School in Larkspur, which began with a dispute over the student playing music on a speaker in the hallway, according to the report.

The exchange became physical when the teacher tried to take the speaker from the student, Redwood High School Principal Barnaby Payne said in a letter obtained by KRON.

The student is seen in the video throwing punches at the teacher, of which at least one lands.

“As a career educator, I know from experience that unexpected and unfortunate incidents are inevitable in schools,” Payne's letter said.

“Nevertheless, what defines us as a community is how we react in the aftermath, how we care for each other, and how we make every effort to prevent incidents in the future.”
