SRPD investigated the incident and learned Rodas had initiated inappropriate contact with a 16-year-old student in late 2023 while working as a para-educator, which is a similar role to a teacher's assistant, at Marin's Community School in San Rafael, police said.

Police said that Rodas sexually assaulted the student three times while offsite from the school campus. Rodas was 20 years old at the time of the assaults, police said.
