Free Life-Saving Skills Training Provided By This Bay Area County

The health and human services department will be hosting training sessions all over the county.

MARIN COUNTY, CA – Locals can attend a free training Aug. 16 in Marin County where they will learn the necessary skills that could be the difference in saving a life, officials said.

"With just a few minutes of your time, you can gain the skills to save a life,” said Christian Lombard, emergency medical services (EMS) specialist with Marin County. “Whether it’s cardiac arrest, overdose, or severe bleeding, learning how to respond before EMS arrives can be the difference between life and death.”

From 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Aug. 16, the Marin County Health and Human Services Department is hosting a Sidewalk CPR event where there will be trainings across 13 locations.

Residents can learn hands-on CPR, how to use an automated external defibrillator, how to control severe bleeding in an emergency and how to administer Narcan in order to reverse an opioid overdose.

"Sidewalk CPR is part of a growing movement to increase public access to life-saving knowledge and equip community members to act confidently in a crisis," Marin County officials said.
