Fugitive Captured In Marin: Cops
Jaime Diaz Calderon, 46, was wanted in Salt Lake City, Utah, in connection with a 1997 kidnapping and sexual assault case, authorities said.
MARIN COUNTY, CA — A fugitive sought in connection with a 1997 kidnapping and sexual assault case was arrested in Marin, authorities said.
Prosecutors on Monday charged Jaime Diaz Calderon, 46, as a fugitive from justice, the Marin County Sheriff’s Office said Thursday in a news release. Calderon was booked into Marin County jail.
Calderon’s arrest followed a tip to the Sheriff’s Office that Calderon, wanted on a 1997 warrant, was living in Marin, the Sheriff’s Office said.

Detectives from agency’s Specialized Investigative Unit (SIU) confirmed the warrant coordinated surveillance with the San Rafael Police Department, and took Calderon into custody safely, the Sheriff’s Office said.
The SIU includes detectives from the Marin County Sheriff’s Office, the Central Marin Police Authority, the SRPD, Drug Enforcement Agency (DEA) and the California Highway Patrol.

The unit investigates major crimes, narcotics-related criminal activity, and conduct undercover operations directed at enhancing safety in Marin, the Sheriff’s Office said.
