Joe Biden’s Sister To Appear At San Rafael Event

Valerie Biden Owens is among four announced guests scheduled to appear at Dominican's Spring Lecture Series.

MARIN COUNTY, CA – President Joe Biden’s sister is listed among the featured guests scheduled to appear at an upcoming Marin event.

Valerie Biden Owens, who ran her older brother’s presidential campaign, is among four announced guests scheduled to appear at Dominican University of California’s Spring Lecture Series in person, or virtually.

New York Times columnist Frank Bruni, New Yorker magazine Executive Editor Dorothy Wickenden, and UCSF psychiatry Professor Dr. Louann Brizendine are the others.

Owens will appear at Angelico Concert Hall April 20, at 7 p.m. to discuss her memoir, Growing Up Biden. Her memoir examines the role of family, faith, and fate in shaping her life, and the power of empathy and kindness in the face of turmoil and division. Tickets, which include a complimentary copy of the book, are $40.

Bruni, an opinion columnist for the New York Times, will appear via Zoom on March 15, at 5:30 p.m. to discuss his memoir; The Beauty of Dusk: On Vision Lost and Found, a personal reflection on grief, aging, and adaptation, and humanity's need for clarity, despite the nearly constant blurry signals given in one’s search for it. Tickets, which include a complimentary copy of the book, are $40.

Wickenden, a The New York Times best-selling author, will appear via Zoom March 29 at 5:30 p.m. to discuss The Agitators, the true story of Harriet Tubman, Martha Coffin Wright, and Frances A. Seward—three friends who fought for abolition and women’s rights in mid-nineteenth century Auburn, New York. Tickets, which include a complimentary copy of the book, are $28.

Dr. Brizendine, who serves as professor of psychiatry at UCSF’s Weill Institute for Neurosciences, will appear April 27 at 7 p.m. at Angelico Concert Hall to discuss The Upgrade. The founder of the first clinic in the country to study gender differences in brain, behavior, and hormones, Dr. Brizendine in “The Upgrade” explains how a woman's brain gets `upgraded' in midlife, inspiring and guiding women to unlock their full potential. She will appear in conversation with Emmy-nominated filmmaker Tiffany Shlain. Tickets, which include a complimentary copy of the book, are $40.

Attendees for two Spring 2022 Leadership Lecture Series events in Angelico Concert Hall in April are required to follow Dominican health and safety COVID-19 protocols for indoor events on campus.
