Loaded Gun Found In Double-Parked Car In San Rafael: Police

Police contacted the driver after finding the car blocking a lane of traffic.

SAN RAFAEL, CA — Officers arrested a man Friday in San Rafael who was double parked and after trying to speak with him, saw him hide a gun under his seat, police said.

On Friday afternoon, San Rafael Police Department officers saw a car double parked on the 100 block of Novato Street in San Rafael and was blocking a lane of traffic.

Police said they contacted the driver, later identified as Jonathan Fabricio Mundo-Hernandez, 21, of San Rafael, and saw him try to hide a gun under his seat.

Officers said they detained Mundo-Hernandez and found a loaded handgun and suspected drugs in the car.

Police said they arrested Mundo-Hernandez and booked him into the Marin County Jail on several felony charges that included carrying a loaded and a concealed firearm in a vehicle, possession of a large capacity magazine, possession of a controlled substance while in possession of a firearm and additional drug-related charges.
