Man Arrested For Auto Burglary ​In San Rafael​: Police

Joseph Jones, 25, was arrested on suspicion of auto burglary and possession of burglary tools, San Rafael police said.

SAN RAFAEL, CA — San Rafael police arrested a Novato man on suspicion of auto burglary Wednesday morning, police said.

A witness called the Police Department around 8:25 a.m. to report that someone was reaching through a broken window of a parked car, but the suspect stopped and walked away when he noticed the witness watching him. The suspect was last seen jumping a fence on Fifth Avenue near A Street, police Lt. Lisa Holton said.

An officer responded and saw a person who matched the description of the suspect and the officer detained 25-year-old Joseph Jones.

The vehicle's owner was located and Jones apparently had some property taken from the vehicle and a window punch, Holton said. Jones was booked in the county jail for alleged auto burglary and possession of burglary tools.
