Man Arrested In Connection To North Bay Opiate Overdose: Police

A follow up investigation into an opiate overdose led detectives to a Petaluma residence, police said.

SAN RAFAEL, CA — Detectives arrested a Petaluma man July 2 they said is responsible for an overdose involving a victim in June in San Rafael.

In June, Detectives from the Marin County Sheriff’s Office began a follow-up investigation into a suspected opiate overdose that involved a victim in San Rafael, police said.

This investigation led to a search warrant issued by a Marin County Superior Court Judge for the residence of Michael Maffei, 46, in Petaluma, police said.

At around 2 p.m. on July 2, detectives said they executed a search warrant at a home on Old Adobe Road in Petaluma and arrested Maffei.

Maffei, who has been previously convicted of a felony, was booked into the Marin County Jail for furnishing a controlled substance causing great bodily harm, being a felon in possession of a firearm and for various narcotics and firearms-related offenses, police said..
