Assault On 2 Children At Marin Tennis Court Probed: Cops

NOVATO, CA — A 61-year-old Novato man was arrested Wednesday in connection with an assault on two juveniles at a Marin tennis court who were disturbing his game, the Novato Police Department said.

One of the children suffered minor injuries, according to police.

Officers responded at around 7:30 Wednesday to Pioneer Park (1007 Simmons Ln.) on the report of an assault on two juveniles, police said.

Becker was arrested after officers determined the assault occurred after he told the children to stop throwing items onto the park tennis courts that were in use, police said.

“When the children did not stop, Becker confronted the children,” police said.

“Becker reportedly struck both children resulting in minor injury to one child. Families in the immediate area intervened and Becker returned to the tennis courts.”

Both children were checked by Novato Fire Protection District personnel before being released to their parents.

“Thank you to the community members who promptly reported the incident,” police said.

“The Novato Police Department thoroughly investigates crimes against children to the fullest extent.”
