Marin Blaze Burns 2 Acres Near Dominican University
The San Rafael blaze threatened five structures but none were damaged, authorities said.
SAN RAFAEL, CA — Authorities in San Rafael have released more details about a vegetation fire that broke out on Monday evening near Dominican University.
According to the San Rafael Fire Department, the blaze was first reported at 9:50 p.m. between Deer Park Avenue and Highland Avenue. The fire burned a eucalyptus grove on a steep hillside, SRFD said.

The fire burned two acres and five structures were threatened but were not damaged.
In all, 19 engines from nearly all Marin Fire agencies responded, SRFD said.
"It took approximately 60 minutes to bring under control," said Deputy Fire Chief Robert Sinnott.

"Crews will be on scene for several hours in order to fully extinguish and overhaul the hillside."
The cause of the fire at this time is undetermined and under investigation, Sinnott said.
