Marin Clean Energy Likely To Raise Its Rates By 6 Percent In July

Power provider Marin Clean Energy is proposing to raise rates for all customers by an average of 6.6 percent starting July 1.

MARIN COUNTY, CA -- San Rafael-based power provider Marin Clean Energy is looking to raise it's rates.

The small-scale regional utility says that it is considering increasing its rates for all customers by an average of 6.6 percent due to rising costs. Its executive committee approved the rate hike at a May 3 meeting and the full board is expected to vote on the proposal June 20.

In a notice of proposed rates adjustment filed earlier this month, the utility stated that if the rate hike is approved by its Board of Directors during a July 1 meeting, customers would still save 0.3 percent compared to Pacific Gas & Electric's rates.
