The climate coordinator’s responsibilities are expected to include implementing and updating the town’s Climate Action Plan, coordinate with the town’s Planning and Building and Public Works departments on implementation actions, seeking grant funding for sustainability programs.
The coordinator would also serve as a spokesperson for the town’s climate action initiatives.
“The effects of global warming are expected to last many years due to the accumulation of past greenhouse gas emissions in the atmosphere,” a town staff report said.
“Even if emissions are reduced or stabilized in the near future, it is expected that climate adaptation measures will be necessary on an ongoing basis as part of the Town’s efforts to sustain and improve the safety and quality of life enjoyed by the Corte Madera community.
