Marin Cop Found Dead At Police HQ In Apparent Self-Inflicted Shooting

The Marin County Sheriff's Office is leading the investigation of Tiburon police Sgt. Sean Christopher's death, the agency said.

MARIN COUNTY, CA — A Tiburon police officer earlier this week was found dead at the agency’s headquarters from an apparent self-inflicted gunshot wound, authorities said.

The Marin County Sheriff’s Office is leading the investigation of Sgt. Sean Christopher’s death, Tiburon police said.

“We are extraordinarily sad to report the loss of Sgt Sean Christopher,” the agency said in a statement.

“Yesterday afternoon he was found deceased at the Tiburon Police Department with what appeared to be a self-inflicted gunshot wound.

“We are thankful for our public safety partners from Marin County and beyond who have been providing us with much needed support during this trying time.”

The Tiburon Police Department has temporarily closed its headquarters to the public to allow employees space to process their trauma, the agency said.

“If you need police assistance at the station, please pick up the phone outside the front door and a dispatcher will send an officer to you,” the agency said.

Gifts for the Giving Tree can be brought to the Tiburon Fire Department at 1647 Tiburon Blvd.

The Fire Department will assist police with the Giving Tree.
