Bay Area County DUI Check-In Provides Alternative To Ensure Compliance
The probation team is piloting a voluntary compliance model with on-site testing and service referrals.
MARIN COUNTY, CA — Around 64 people on supervised probation checked in at Marin County’s first DUI resource check-in site in June, which provides an alternative to home visits.
Probation staff checked 64 people, conducting oral swabs or breath tests. They confirmed 14 ignition interlock devices and performed 16 vehicle searches. Officers made three arrests, including one for a county parole violation, one for a new law violation and one for a probation violation. They also issued three citations that included two for driving without a license and one for knowingly getting a ride from an unlicensed driver.
“This approach prioritizes safety and accountability while connecting individuals with the resources they need to move forward,” said Marlon Washington, Marin County chief probation officer. “Watching my team in action was a powerful reminder of their professionalism and commitment to both public safety and community care.”
