Marin County Faces A Very Hot Weekend
Temperatures are forecast to break into the 90s in the North Bay over the weekend, and Marin County will be under an excessive heat warning.
SAN RAFAEL, CA — Most inland portions of the Bay Area will be under an excessive heat warning this weekend as temperatures in parts of Marin County soar into the 90s, and local officials are sharing a few reminders about how to handle the heat.
Updated forecasts Wednesday afternoon showed major heat impacts and very low humidity around the North Bay on Saturday and Sunday, with more moderate heat expected Thursday, Friday and Monday.

Here are some of the afternoon highs forecast around Marin County, per the National Weather Service:

Forecasters warn that the elevated heat may present several hazards this weekend, including increased fire risks and health concerns for vulnerable residents and animals.

"There is a moderate-to-major risk for heat-related illnesses for pets, livestock, and those who are sensitive to heat, especially those without effective cooling and/or adequate hydration," NWS Bay Area forecasters wrote Wednesday. "Stay hydrated, take cooling breaks, and never leave people or pets unattended in hot vehicles!"
Marin County officials echoed the need for caution this weekend and called on community members to limit outdoor activity and check on older family members, friends and neighbors at least twice per day.

Here are a few other tips from Marin Health & Human Services:
- Plan ahead and check the weather forecast to prepare for hot days.
- Stay cool. Reduce time outside in the direct heat.
- Prepare for power outages during heat events.
- Have a buddy system: During a heat wave, check on medically vulnerable family members, friends, neighbors, and co-workers.
- Stay hydrated.
- Go to a cool place like a mall or library.
- Slow down. Plan outdoor activities before noon or in the evening.
- Wear lightweight, loose-fitting, light-colored clothing and a wide brimmed hat. Use sunscreen with a SPF of at least 15.
- Stay indoors as much as possible.
- Take cool baths or showers.
- Place a damp towel around your shoulders to reduce body heat.
