Marin County Workers Raise $115K For Local Charities
Payroll deductions were up 6 percent for the Employee Charitable Giving Campaign, helping the county beat its goal by more than $10,000.
MARIN COUNTY, CA — Marin County's public workforce helped raise tens of thousands of dollars for local nonprofits through the holiday season via the Employee Charitable Giving Campaign, officials announced Friday.
According to the county, the annual campaign recorded more than $115,000 in charitable giving through payroll deductions and one-time donations, up more than $5,000 from the year before. The program allows county employees to set up bi-weekly donations deducted from their pay or make single donations. Workers can also select specific charities to receive their funds.
The campaign distributes the money to nonprofits throughout the year, giving another reliable funding source to organizations like the Ritter Center, Homeward Bound Marin and the SF-Marin Foodbank.

County leaders thanked workers for helping exceed the goal by over $10,000, recognizing nearly two dozen employees who each committed $1,000 or more over the year.
"Once again, our employees were inspired to give by generously contributing financially to the greater good," said Liza Massey, Chief Information Officer and the campaign's coordinator. "It's heartwarming to see it happen even though we continue to face rising costs and other challenges. The ongoing financial commitment to others is one more example of our employees' public servant spirit."
