SAN RAFAEL, CA — The Marin County Board of Supervisors have a few big items on their agenda Tuesday morning, including an overview of preparations for this year's fire season, updates on pest management and affordable housing efforts, and considering a new safety ordinance for large gates.

Marin County Fire Chief Jason Weber will walk supervisors through a fire season outlook and run through the preparations the county has been undertaking.

"In the last year over 20,000 inspections were completed in partnership with our partner agencies in the greater Ross Valley," Weber wrote in a summary letter. "Marin County has encouraged and provided information and trainings for our residents of Marin on how to be more prepared for wildfire, have evacuation plans in place, and educated property owners on how to make their spaces more resilient by incorporating defensible space into their landscape plans."

Weber said its partner agencies have implemented fire mitigation efforts and continue to use Measure C funds to complete prevention projects.

Supervisors will also discuss a proposed amendment to building codes that would require safety devices to be installed on large gates to prevent them from falling. The board will also consider other code amendments, including those governing plumbing fixtures and smoke and carbon monoxide detectors. If approved, the new codes would take effect in July.
