Marin Inmate Found Dead: Sheriff’s Office

At the Sheriff Office's request, the Central Marin Police Authority will investigate the inmate's death.

MARIN COUNTY, CA — Authorities are investigating the in-custody death of a Marin County Jail inmate Tuesday morning, the Marin County Sheriff’s Office said.

A deputy performing a routine check on inmates at around 5:25 a.m. found the inmate hanging within their solely occupied cell, the Sheriff’s Office said.

The San Rafael Fire Department was summoned to the jail but despite all lifesaving measures, the inmate was pronounced deceased at 5:45 a.m., the Sheriff’s Office said.

At the Sheriff Office’s request, the Central Marin Police Authority will investigate the inmate’s death.

The Sonoma County Sheriff’s Office Coroners Division responded to handle the coroner duties associated with the death.
