MARIN COUNTY, CA — Marin does not have immediate plans to implement a vaccine mandate, the county’s top health official told The San Francisco Chronicle.

The Chronicle interviewed

health officials from seven Bay Area counties after San Francisco last week became the nation’s first city or county to announce it will require proof of full vaccination for most indoor activities.

Marin Health Officer Dr. Matt Willis told the news outlet the North Bay county is discussing tighter restrictions and would consider a San Francisco-type measure should cases and hospitalizations continue on an upward trajectory.

But he said Marin is “not there yet” according to the report.

Marin is the nation's most vaccinated county according to data analysis conducted by The Chronicle in May.

As of Wednesday, 94.9 percent of county's eligible population 12 years of age and older have received at least one does of the vaccine and 87.7 percent have completed their vaccine series according to Marin's vaccine dashboard.

“Ninety-five percent of Marin adults are vaccinated with at least one dose, and hospitalization and case rates have been stable for the past week or so,” Willis told The Chronicle.
