MARIN COUNTY, CA — Marin County has issued a new health order requiring that all nursing home visitors be vaccinated, The Marin Independent Journal reports.

Marin County Health Officer Dr. Matt Willis said most of the cases involve unvaccinated staff according to the report.

“The current cluster of cases at the Redwoods is our largest, with 12 as of today," Willis told the News outlet. "Most are among staff.”
The new Marin order follows the state's announcement last month that it will require health care workers at congregate facilities to show proof of full vaccination or be tested at least once a week.Gov. Gavin Newsom on July 26 announced the new measures that he said aim to encourage state employees and health care workers to get vaccinated.
The new state measure goes into effect Tuesday and health care facilities have until Aug. 23 to come into full compliance with the measure.
California is the nation's first state to enact such measures.
“We are now dealing with a pandemic of the unvaccinated, and it’s going to take renewed efforts to protect Californians from the dangerous Delta variant,” Newsom said in a statement.
“As the state’s largest employer, we are leading by example and requiring all state and health care workers to show proof of vaccination or be tested regularly, and we are encouraging local governments and businesses to do the same.
"Vaccines are safe – they protect our family, those who truly can’t get vaccinated, our children and our economy. Vaccines are the way we end this pandemic.”
